We all know how LinkedIn posts any change in your experience as a new job. I just added to my profile that I’m the chair for local non-profit chapter for professional women…and was surprised the next day have over 100 messages saying, “Congrats on your new job!”
“Wait! Wait!” I exclaimed. “You don’t understand. I haven’t changed jobs. My business is thriving. This is just a non-profit post…”
Just a non-profit post….
One of my colleagues replied back, “don’t apologize for making a significant impact in your community. Celebrate it!”
I do celebrate my volunteer work, because I give where I see the greatest return for my daughters and friends, and their friends. I give back because I want to see more women sharing their gifts with the world, and I want to see a world with bigger minds and happier people so they can have great impact.
This week I want to honor women and my friends who promote the interests of women and I want to ask you a question: How are you serving your community? If you’re not serving, what are you waiting for? There are several opportunities this week to find out how you can serve in Colorado Springs. If you’re not in Colorado Springs, check with your local women’s chamber or non-profit support center, but if you are in my town check out these opportunities:
